lease payments in Lane Co. KS

I have heard of $150-$200 per acre, 3/16 royalty and 2-3 year extension.  It has gone from $30 to $200 in about 1 year.  Don't know if these numbers are county wide but there is a lot of action.

Who are the different companies leasing in Lane County and what are they going after? I have heard different things. Is there one company better than another. TCContinue

Has anyone in Lane Co. executed a lease lately? If so, what royalty and lease bonus? Term? Extension?

I visited the Jasper well site two to three times per week and got to know an EnCana employee and one of the contractors hired to "babysit" the well - it was attended 24 hours per day when it produced.  Both told me the well was producing 6000 barrels water per day, absolutely no oil and 6000 parts per million deadly hydrogen sulfide gas.  I suspect the well was abandoned because of the danger associated with the hydrogen sulfide.

Yep.  I stopped at the Jasper well site yesterday to see if Ron Bahm's news was accurate.  The tank battery has been removed, as well as all other equipment.  Just two big pipes sticking out of the ground with big shutoff valves on them.  Not good.  I can't help but wonder if Encana's withdrawal from Kansas had anything to do with the legislature's recent expansion of the severance tax.  That tilts the cost differential toward Oklahoma.  I was in the Medford and Alva area last week and saw SandRidge tank batteries everywhere, at least four horizontal rigs in action, and mile upon mile of temporary water pipe laying in ditches to carry water to the new well sites.

Encana has pulled out. They don't have any plans to drill additional wells in Kansas in 2013. This information came directly from a Encana landman.

The last word I had about 2 weeks ago was that Encana was removing ALL equipment from the well site.  At this moment I know nothing more. I am 500 miles from well site but get info from our renter.

Any news on the Encana horizontal well?

OK, we now have the horizontal drilling mentioned above doing fracking and extending electrical service to site.  Does anyone have an idea what that means, good or very good?

Don you should call these guys they have a couple of big clients and I think they are from the Lane County area. They have been the best landmen to deal with I've encountered.

Your time WILL come with that kind of leverage toward horizontal.  Keep in touch, you have my email.

I just had a conversation with the landman we had been working with.  He told me he was no longer with Schonwald and gave me a number to call.  He related that they were essentially tapped out... that they are just out of money at the moment.  Not good news.  You evidently got in under the wire, Ron.  I could put together seventeen quarters for them, all of it contiguous.  Some is available now, and some comes off lease in August.  That would be a pretty nice footprint for a horizontal project, especially since Mark and Teresa Koehler are negotiating for property that also adjoins.  Rather disappointing, but our time willl come.
