America’s conversation place for mineral & royalty owners
I am part of a mineral lease available in Zavala County for active drilling with access to over 600 acres. We are interested in a fair market lease directly with a reputable drilling company. Please share any information on the firms you have experienced to live up to their reputations.
Respectfully, David
What part of Zavala? Abstract number? Thanks.
David
Depends on what part of Zavala Co you are in. Not saying more of the area won't be developed but bulk of the activity is in the southern portion of the county. Global Geophysical is trying to lease for a large seismic study in frio/zavala county, i'm waiting for their terms. If your uncertain about your address being correct with the county clerk I would recommend going to crystal and trying to get that fixed.... i've sent letters and been in twice and found out this week that the clerk still hasn't corrected my address.
All,
Last week we sent an alert, urging you to send a letter to the Railroad Commission telling them not to railroad Texans’ property rights via new rules for the Mineral Interest Pooling Act (MIPA) – the law that authorizes forced pooling.
If you haven’t done so, it’s not too late to send a letter.
But even better than sending a letter, come say your piece in person.
WHAT: Railroad Commission hearing to consider whether to proceed with new forced pooling rules under MIPA
WHEN: January 30th at 9:00 am
WHERE: William B. Travis State Office Building, Room 1-111 1701 N. Congress Ave., Austin, TX
WHY: The reason the TRC is considering the rules now? Among other things, they want to legitimize railroading (hah!) small landowners -- who want no part of production/leasing -- into not just drilling, but PAYING for the drilling they don't want. If the well isn't profitable, new rules could wind up losing landowners money.
Thank you!

P.S. If you haven’t yet sent a letter to the Commission, click here to do so.

One option is to identify your property on the Railroad Commission maps and see who is actually drilling/operating wells in your vicinity. This is not too difficult but the RRC website GIS can be daunting. Those drilling wells around you are probably the ones you will want to lease with.
If you require any help feel free to get in touch with me and I'll be glad to identify them for you free of charge.

Mr Williams is correct. look at the RR Commission maps. southern and eastern parts of the county do have activity. CHK developing a big chunk of acreage along 117 from Dilly to Batesville, some leasing activity in Frio Town. Other areas there is no interest and you might just have to wait and see how things build out.
Hi!
I have trouble with the RRC maps, do you mind looking something up for me? Or, post the link? We are interested in activity on the Zavala/Maverick County line border on Hwy. 57, between La Pryor and Eagle Pass. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Permalink Reply by Cliff Williams on February 2, 2012 at 9:05am A very easy way to find what you are looking for is to go to the following link and when it opens you will see the box on the right side "Go to County/Offshore Area/Bay" in the dropdown box to the right put in Maverick. The map that comes up will be the county map and then use the "Zoom In" box to get to your area of interest.

Thank you! For some reason that link isn't working....

The top link on this page is "RRC's Public GIS Map Viewer."
That should do it.
