America’s conversation place for mineral & royalty owners
Greetings. I decided to give up on the Fayette County Texas - Oil & Gas Lease thread. It got to where it was tiring me out, so I decided to start this and see what happens. I see this as being for mineral owners generally located between Breslau and Dubina; Freyburg and Appelts Hill. If you don't know where these places are, you're probably in the wrong place.
So to get started, I'll throw out the first bit of new information. As you hopefully know, the Australian company, Strike Energy http://www.strikeenergy.com.au/, is part of the group headed by Cypress E&P http://cypressep.com/ that leased a pretty large amount of acreage known as the Eagle Landing JV. In the spirit of full disclosure, I signed a lease with Cypress last fall. Here's the latest from Strike as of yesterday:

I can find no new information about Sanchez Energy http://sanchezenergycorp.com/ and their purchase of the Omimex leases, which is now generally calles SN Marquis: http://sanchezenergycorp.com/areas-of-operation/eagle-ford-shale

Several years ago..,not sure if it was 08 or 09 Judge Ed convinced the RR to hold a public meeting in Schulenburg to discuss their plans for the siding. At that time they were planning on starting at Engle and going East. Their explanation at the time was they needed it to help with train traffic. Showed a bunch of drawings with elevations and stuff to show how it was more advantageous to do it East of Engle because the grades were flatter. Lots of folks showed up and chewed on their ear. Got kinda ugly. One fella stated "It doesn't matter what we say, you're still gonna do whatever you want to, right?". They said they would listen to the folks but "Yes, we have right of eminent domain". This happened before the Eagle Ford was blowing and going and there was no talk of any type of loading depot, etc. It was about the time GWB had run us in the ground and BO was coming to save us all. C: !!! Maybe the plan has changed but "That's the way it was". Maybe somebody can zero in on the date of the meeting.
The railroads have all kinds of unique eminent domain advantages that the states granted them in return for bringing 'civilization' to the area (if you can call it that).
The thing I find interesting about this siding is the first-rate caliche road that they built parallel to the siding. That's unusual. Might mean nothing, though.
I guess it's like Cypress and Sanchez and Hess and so on... we'll know one way or the other by Christmas.
That was one of the promises they were making to land owners the first time around. If someone would have their driveway blocked by a standing train they would build them a road parallel to the tracks to an exit point. I prefer the idea of an oil depot! You're right. We should know one way or another by Christmas. At the rate Sanchez/Patterson is drilling southwest of Praha we might be waiting a little longer. Seems like it's taking them a long time to complete the first well.

Well that explains it for sure then. Dreamwagon off in the ditch. Ow.
Re: Prost Problems. It was explained to me that each company has to gain experience drilling any given formation. For instance, I believe that the first Magnum Hunter wells were not too good. Now as they've gained experience, they've gotten progressively better. Note the statement in the Halcon presentation about the GeoResources buyout that basically intimated that Halcon expertise has come to save the day from the previous numbskullery. That's the way I read it, at least. Time will tell.

Glad to be able to contribute something of value. I usually lurk in the shadows and glean all the valuable information you and the others contribute. BTW, the GWB comment I made was tongue in cheek. I try to steer away from politics but threw that in for grins (my own I guess!). Okay. No more politics!.
Thanks for info on Prost.
Not that we're so interested in Forest Oil in our part of the country, but this comes from a related story about how Forest is getting better at their well completions. I'm attaching it here because I find it interesting how the blue lines showing the Oil Window and Wet Gas Window trail off their map toward the NE. Just another opinion...

For what it's worth, last weekend there was still some drilling activity on the Sanchez well located south of Flatonia.
I did not see a lot of people, only a few but others could have been inside some of the trailers.
